There will be a sobriety checkpoint in the Grand Forks area this weekend. The checkpoint will be enforced by the North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department. Officers say 100 people have lost their lives on North Dakota roads this year and that 40 percent of the deaths have been alcohol related. There have been 9 fatal crashes just in our region. The checkpoint will run Saturday the 28th from 11:30 pm to 2:30 am. For sober drivers passing through the checkpoint, the delay should be minimal.
