West Fargo man gets prison for copper theft

A West Fargo café owner was sentenced to five years in prison for stealing about $72,000 in copper wiring from a business here last year. Soran Kaka was sentenced in Cass County District Court after a jury found him guilty of theft Wednesday.

FARGO – A West Fargo café owner was sentenced to five years in prison for stealing about $72,000 in copper wiring from a business here last year.

Soran Kaka was sentenced in Cass County District Court after a jury found him guilty of theft Wednesday.

Kaka was accused of breaking into Bergstrom Electric on July 9, 2012, and using a forklift to load the copper into a truck. Police reports identified Kaka as the owner of Luna Café in Fargo.

He was also sentenced in August to two years in prison on burglary and theft convictions in a similar case in Bismarck. In that case, about $50,000 to $60,000 worth of copper wire was stolen from RK Electric.
