Grand Forks police seek man accused of sexually assaulting two early Monday morning

Grand Forks police are on the lookout for the suspect of a home invasion and sexual assault early Monday morning.

Grand Forks police are on the lookout for the suspect of a home invasion and sexual assault early Monday morning.

They say a man broke in to an apartment at 2 am, demanded money and sexually assaulted both people that were in the apartment unit at the time. It happened on the 3400 block of 13th Avenue North.

Neighbors were woken up when they heard shouts for help.

Katie: "We heard a loud ruckus going on and a girl pretty scared and she was asking for some help," said Katie Peterson, a resident of the apartment complex.

Police say the suspect came into the victims' home through a sliding glass door. He is described as black male standing 6' 1", between 200 and 230 pounds and at the time of the incident was wearing a black jacket, a dark colored shirt and black pants. Lt. Jim Remer with the Grand Forks Police Department says he was also described as having a couple of tattoos -- one of them on the back of his right hand it appeared to be cursive writing.

The man also has a tattoo on the right side of his upper abdomen. Police are currently still searching for clues as to who this person is.

"We're going to be up in that area doing some more canvasing, checking the area for both evidence and for people who might have seen or heard something," said Lt. Remer.
