Police are following up on new leads Tuesday in the investigation of a home invasion and sexual assault early Monday morning at an apartment complex in Grand Forks. Police say a suspect entered the home of two people -- demanded money -- and then sexually assaulted both of the apartment's residents. Officers have been near the scene of the crime Tuesday night for several hours now. While they're staying tight-lipped about the investigation details, they did confirm that the investigation may be making some progress.

Police say a man came into the apartment in the 34-hundred block of 13th Avenue North through a sliding glass door. That's when the man allegedly threatened the victims with a gun, robbed them, sexually assaulted them and left.

The suspect is identified as a black male in his early 20s. 6 foot 1 -- weighing between 200-230 pounds. He also had a tattoo on the back of his right hand which looked like cursive writing -- and a tattoo on the front right side of his abdomen. Police urge anyone with any information to contact the grand forks police department.
