There was standing room only Wednesday afternoon at a retirement party for a well known Red River Valley doctor. Dr. E.J. "Jack" Larson is hanging his hat after serving the Cavalier community for 54 years. Larson was hired on Flag Day in 1959 -- and has been considered an "icon" in the community ever since. He started the Altru Clinic in Cavalier, and three nurses served their entire career with him. Larson has served some patients for close to 50 years.

Dr. E.J. "Jack" Larson says, "When I look at the number of people I have seen today, and still more are coming, they must have appreciated the care that we gave them."

Doctor Larson says he plans on spending more time with family and traveling in Europe.
