FARGO – Fargo police arrested two men Thursday on suspicion of assaulting and robbing a homeless man of his hat, sunglasses and the cane he needed to help him walk.

According to police Lt. Joel Vettel:

The incident happened around noon in a wooded area near the 3400 block of 13th Avenue South.

The 58-year-old homeless man told police he was sitting down when two men attacked him, striking him with a tree branch and punching him in the face.

Officers arrested two men who fit the description of the assailants. They were identified as Michael L. LaCroix, 35, and Lorenzo Manyribs, 49. Police didn’t have a permanent address for either man.

Vettel said the victim’s injuries were minor.

LaCroix and Manyribs will likely face strong-arm robbery charges, according to Vettel.
