Woman cited after Friday morning 3-vehicle crash in Grand Forks

A 56-year-old woman was cited for running a red light in Grand Forks early Friday, causing a three-vehicle crash in which her sport utility vehicle flipped.

A 56-year-old woman was cited for running a red light in Grand Forks early Friday, causing a three-vehicle crash in which her sport utility vehicle flipped.

Valerie McGinty, Aneta, N.D., was travelling west on DeMers Avenue just before 10 a.m. Friday when she ignored a red light at the street’s intersection with North 42nd Street, police said.

McGinty’s SUV was hit by a vehicle driven by India Fetterer, 20, Grand Forks, before rolling and striking another car, driven by Shelly Swenson, Grafton, N.D.

McGinty, Fetterer and Swenson were treated for minor injuries at the scene, according to a press release from the Grand Forks Police Department.
