A North Dakota Game and Fish survey shows that the anglers on Devils Lake had a pretty good summer.

Game and Fish surveyed anglers in June, July and August on Devils Lake and Stump Lake. The agency estimates more 200,000 walleyes and 14,000 perch were reeled in during that time.

That's compared to the most recent survey in 2007 when anglers brought in only 92,000 walleyes and 2,400 perch. Fisheries Biologist Todd Caspers says strong hatch numbers in 2009 translated into good fishing in 2013.

The good news may not stop now. Caspers says strong numbers this summer should mean good fishing throughout the winter and into next summer as well.
