Crookston School Board Looks At Budget Cuts
The Crookston school board is looking at ways they can save teaching jobsBy: David Schwab, WDAZ
.
14 teachers could lose their jobs district-wide, as the board looks to cut 1.5 million dollars in next school year.
The school board met this morning to talk about different options for cuts at the high school level.
Gilman says two options are being considered... either cuts in elective classes or core classes.
Wayne Gilman/ Crookston Superintendent: "My thought is we are accountable in testing in terms of math. English reading so on. The testing doesn't necessarily fall into electives. So by default I would lean toward keeping core classes."
Gilman says the board is leaning toward closing the schools pool.
He says that would save at least one teacher's job.
