A young cow moose that frequented the Crookston area during many of the spring and early-summer months has died. DNR wildlife staff captured the moose on June 24 and fitted her with a satellite radio collar. She was then transported to the Caribou Wildlife Management Area in Kittson County.

Concerned with her lack of activity, the area wildlife supervisor in Karlstad, Minnesota, located the moose. Days later, her collar indicated no movement. DNR moose researchers responded and discovered she had died. Various biological samples were taken on site, and the cow's remains were transported to the University of Minnesota Veterinarian School for further testing.
