Ben Franklin wins Distinguished School award

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Ben Franklin Elementary School has been named a recipient of the 2013-2014 Title I Distinguished School award for the state of North Dakota.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Ben Franklin Elementary School has been named a recipient of the 2013-2014 Title I Distinguished School award for the state of North Dakota.

The school was selected for the award by the North Dakota Title I Committee of Practitioners for outstanding results in exceptional student performance for two or more consecutive years.

Criteria for the award included Ben Franklin Elementary making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years, and demonstrating high academic achievement for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years.

“We are so proud of the staff at Ben Franklin Elementary for their efforts in improving student performance,” said Jody Thompson, Assistant Superintendent at Grand Forks Public Schools. “The award is a nice recognition for their dedication.”

The award was announced October 10 at the Title I fall conference in Bismarck.

Ben Franklin Elementary will also be honored at the National Title I Conference, held in San Diego in February 2014.

The Title I Distinguished School award is sponsored by the National Association of State Title I Directors.
