The trial is set to begin for a Crookston man accused of murdering a Thief River Falls woman in August, 2012. Pretrial motions were held Monday for the murder of Tanya Kazmierczk. The motion started at 9 AM in the Pennington County Courthouse and lasted for about an hour and a half .

32-year-old Jedidiah Dean Troxel, of Crookston, is accused in the murder of 40-year-old Tonya Kazmierczk. The body of Kazmierczk was found on August 26, 2012 near the Red Lake River in Minnesota. Autopsy reports showed that she died from multiple stab wounds and had her throat cut. Several agencies worked together and arrested Jedidiah Troxel as the main suspect. Troxel is charged with first degree murder. In August 2012, we spoke with a man who knew Kazmierczk -- he said the events were devastating to the community.

The jury selection for the trial is set to begin Tuesday at 9 AM. WDAZ will have a reporter in the courtroom and will continue to follow the trial as it progresses.
