With the early flood this year, there is still plenty of ice on the Red River and its tributaries.
In Grand Forks today, an effort to make sure ice doesn't get hung up on any of the bridges in town.
A backhoe was out in the middle of the railroad bridge near downtown breaking up ice.
Ice jams can cause rapid water rises behind them.
