Wednesday marks day two of Jury selection in the murder trial of 32-year-old Jedidiah Troxel. The Crookston resident is accused of murdering 40-year-old Tonya Kazmierczk.
The prosecution and defense spent their second day asking jurors about what they know about their case and a little about their personal lives. As of about 2:00 Wednesday afternoon only four jurors out of 15 had been picked, so it could be at least another day before the trial begins.
Troxel was charged with second degree murder after Kazmierczk's body was found on August 26th last year near the Red Lake River in Pennington County. Autopsy reports showed that she died from multiple stab wounds and her throat was cut. Pennington County court documents say a witness saw Tonya Kazmierczak talking to Troxel in his car the morning after a party in Thief River Falls the day before her body was found. Police say they also found a pair of boots that Troxel owned that match prints that where found at the crime scene.
We will be following the trial providing updates when it begins after jury selection.
