Barton leads Carrington past Mandaree

UND football recruit scores 26 pts. in quarterfinal

MINOT, N.D. (AP) A big game by UND football recruit Devin Barton helped Carrington record a 62-54 victory over Mandaree in the opening round of the North Dakota boys Class B basketball tournament on Thursday.

Barton hit 11 of 16 shots from the field, scored 26 points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds to help the Cardinals (24-2) advance to the semifinals. Kaleb Klein added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Easton Page finished with 12 points.

Devin Yellow Wolf hit 10 of 21 shots from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers, to score a game-high 27 points for Mandaree.

Richard Hoise added 11 points for the Warriors (20-5).

Carrington meets Cavalier in Friday's 8:15 p.m. semifinal.
