The trial of Jedidiah Troxel, accused in the murder of Tanya Kazmierczak, began Tuesday in the Pennington County Courtroom of Judge Don Aandal. A jury of seven men and seven women will determine Troxel's fate.

After nearly an hour-long opening statement from Assistant Attorney General Eric Schieferdecker that provided jurors a timeline of events leading up to the discovery of Tanya Kazmierczak's body, defendant Jedidiah Troxel's defense team waived its opportunity to make a statement of its own.

A jury of seven men and seven women will determine Troxel's fate. The 32-year-old Crookston man faces life if convicted of the murder of the 40-year-old Thief River Falls woman.

Troxel was arrested Aug. 27, 2012, one day after Kazmierczak's body was found near the Red Lake River outside of Thief River Falls.
