Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Fargo city commission is taking a step to make sure the lesbian - gay, bisexual and transgender community is being welcomed with open arms.

Commissioners reviewed their anti-discrimination policy and updated the original "wording" from 2000.

The policy now encompasses equal protection of all citizens regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identification or gender expression.

Tim Mahoney/Fargo City Commissioner-Deputy Mayer: “Welcoming city we want all people to come into our community and feel welcome. Do not like discrimination against people.”

Tom Freier, president of the North Dakota Family Alliance, said he believes Fargo is already inclusive and that a resolution would "divide more than unite" the city's residents.
