Lee, Huskies shut out Badgers in WCHA semis
St. Cloud State reaches title game for first time since 2006
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Ryan Lasch poked in the winning goal late in the second period and Roseau, Minn., native Mike Lee stopped 38 shots to lead St. Cloud State to a 2-0 win over Wisconsin in the WCHA Final Five semifinals Friday.
It was Lee's second shutout this season. The freshman's strong play helped keep the Badgers scoreless in six power-play opportunities.
St. Cloud State's leading scorer, Garrett Roe, was taken off the ice on a stretcher early in the third period. Roe crashed headfirst into the boards diving to stop Wisconsin's Brendan Smith from reaching the puck.
Travis Novak added an empty-net goal for St. Cloud State late in the third.
The sixth-ranked Huskies will play in the championship game for the first time since 2006.
