A Grand Forks man was hospitalized and charged early today after a police chase and crash on Washington Street.
Brandin Foster, 34, was transported to Altru Hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries after the accident, which occurred on the 800 block of North Washington Street, according to a report from Grand Forks
The incident began at 12:52 a.m. when police say an officer observed a vehicle traveling on South Washington Street at a high rate of speed. When police tried to stop the vehicle, it fled northbound.
According to the report, when the vehicle reached the 800 block of North Washington, the driver apparently lost control. The vehicle, which was not described in the report, then struck a utility pole and a tree. The driver had to be cut out of the vehicle.
Foster was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving, police said. Other charges are pending.
Nobody else was injured in the accident, according to police. The incident remains under investigation.
Grand Forks police were assisted by the Grand Forks Fire Department, UND Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol and Altru Ambulance.
