A Cavalier man is set to stand trial in Pembina County on charges that he allegedly raped and tortured his girlfriend.
According to the criminal complaint the victim says the man kept her locked in the basement of their Cavalier home--freeing her only to torture and rape her.
Gregory Ray Kitchens faces a December 9th trial on 26 counts of gross sexual imposition, plus charges of aggravated assault and drug possession.
In the criminal complaint the victim says she Dated Kitchens bound the woman repeatedly, then physically and sexually assaulted her 20 times over a three month period. In the criminal complaint the victim says there was domestic abuse during their 4 year relationship, but it started to get worse when the couple moved to Cavalier in January of this year.
The victim also reported that Kitchens would restrain her in the basement of their home and leave her there for hours, often with a radio blaring to drown out her screams for help. When police investigated the home there was significant blood in the home, and they found numerous items used for restraint. Kitchens could face life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
