Michael Kyle Burris waived extradition and appeared in an Otter Tail County Courtroom Monday morning where we learned his father, Michael Alan Burris will soon be transported back to Minnesota from Arizona.

It's been 18 months since Scott Burris' body was found in the Otter Tail River with a single gunshot wound to his head. Monday, his cousin, 23-year-old Michael Kyle Burris appeared in Otter Tail County court to meet with his lawyer, who asked for more time to review material.

He's charged with felony second degree murder. Accused of killing Scott Burris over a drug debt. Also charged is his father, 65-year-old Michael Alan Burris.

Otter Tail County Assistant Michelle Eldien said, "There's been some cooperation now so that makes a huge difference, there was none. Obviously the two went to Arizona, and we had to extradite them back which takes time, in fact we're still working on Michael Sr."

A felony second degree murder charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison.
