As the rising Red River forces road and bridge closures across the Northern Red River Valley, the Drayton Bridge - one of the few that's still open - is seeing more traffic. The Department of Transportation expects the bridge will be closed in a few days, because the river hasn't crested yet. Last year it was closed for about 50 days. So far the traffic isn't as heavy as it was last year, but with the construction on the new bridge, traffic has gotten backed up.
Les Noehre/North Dakota Department Of Transportation: "After the new bridge and roadway are built, then we'll tear down the old bridge and remove the access road to that bridge."
The new Drayton Bridge will replace the current one. It's expected to be finished in the fall.
