There is a new way of getting around town in Thief River Falls. After more than a year of construction, a new railroad underpass is open to traffic on the southern end of town. This project will serve different purposes for different people. It will mean a quicker commute for many, quicker emergency response times for emergency vehicles and it will provide an alternative route for people waiting around an occasional train that regularly runs through town.

The 6.5 million dollar underpass on Greenwood street is the first underpass to be built in Thief River Falls for regular traffic. A "round about" intersection is included in the project for efficient traffic flow. This is the final project on the street with includes a bridge that opened 4 years ago, and a newly designed intersection on highway 32.
