(FARGO) -- Behind 377 rushing yards and four touchdowns from senior quarterback Ryan Chrest, the Cavalier Tornadoes capped a perfect 2013 season defeating Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn 54-6 in Friday's Dakota Bowl 9-Man championship.

"It definitely feels good because we have older brothers who got so close a couple of years ago," said Chrest, "and now we get to redeem them and finally hold the trophy up and bring the banner back to Cavalier."

Chrest's 377 rushing yards set a Dakota Bowl record. Cavalier chalking up 519 rushing yards as a team, also a Dakota Bowl record.

Cavalier coach Sandy Laxdal said, "That guy (Chrest) is amazing. He just does so many things, he is a hard-working kid, he just understands the game of football so well. He's tough to tackle one-on-one, he just reads the opening and has such great vision in the open field. He just went out and made great plays."

The Tornado defense forced four Sioux turnovers and held W-N-G to just 225 total yards.

Cavalier junior running back Brock Robbins said, "We didn't want them to score and so we didn't, they didn't score until the end of the game."

The all-around performance gives Cavalier its first football title since 2004 and fifth championship overall.

"We talked to the kids about leave your legacy behind," Laxdal said,"and what do you want to be remembered as? We wanted to make sure these kids came to work hard. We are a blue-collard team, we get after it. We aren't going to do anything fancy and we have some great athletes out there making plays and I'm so proud of everyone of them."

Added Robbins, "It's the greatest feeling in the world. All the work we put in, all year and all summer. It just feels great to be a state champion."
