At about 9:45 pm Sunday night, Grand Forks police officers responded to a robbery that took place at the Big Cigs Valley Dairy. A cashier was held up with what appeared to be handgun and threatened.

"The subject entered the store and demanded money. He was given money as part of the robbery," said Lt. Jim Remer with the Grand Forks Police Department.

Less than 500 dollars was taken. The subject is described as a white male, 5'8" to 5'10", between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt, gray pants and a black mask. Police say the individual fled the store on foot and then had help in his getaway.

"We believe he got into a pickup in the area that was driven by someone else. That pickup is a dark colored chevy," said Remer.

The subjects left the area in an unknown direction and witnesses were unable to get a license plate number. However, the police do have evidence to work with in their investigation.

"We recovered the handgun. It was left behind in the area. There is some surveillance tape available. We're reviewing that right now," said Remer.

Upon closer examination, the handgun was determined to be a pellet gun. Once they are done reviewing the evidence, police plan on making the surveillance tape available to the public. Anyone with information on this ongoing case is asked to contact the police department at 701-787-8000.
