While the city of Grand Forks is losing its Smiley Water Tower, it's gaining a new Smiley. Tuesday night there was a party at Midtown Park in Grand Forks to celebrate new playground equipment. Children at Wilder and Winship Elementary Schools named the new equipment "Smiley Playground."

Some of the students were at the party in the park. They say they're excited about the name of the new playground but also excited about the equipment itself.

Josh Human, who helped name the playground, said, “It’s cool because they’re talking about tearing down the Smiley Water Tower.”

There have also been other improvements to the park.

People at the party enjoyed free pizza, sweets, and drinks. There were also several door prizes for kids.
