Menards employee struck by shoplifter's car Friday morning

Black Friday got off to a bleak start in Grand Forks Friday morning. A Menards employee was struck by a shoplifter's car, as the thief attempted to get away.

Black Friday got off to a bleak start in Grand Forks Friday morning. A Menards employee was struck by a shoplifter's car, as the thief attempted to get away.

The incident took place just after nine Friday morning in the Menards parking lot, when a shoplifter left the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise. An employee followed her out into the parking lot in an attempt to stop the theft. But the female shoplifter got into her car and started driving away hitting the employee who was standing out in front of vehicle. The employee was not injured. The police have identified the shoplifter by a license plate and surveillance video but have not yet made an arrest.

The female shoplifter will face charges of theft and reckless endangerment.
