Monday morning the University of North Dakota celebrated the opening of a new bridge on campus. The Campus Road Bridge was built through a partnership with the North Dakota Department of Transportation, the city of Grand Forks and UND.

The bridge opened this morning with President Kelly driving a front end loader across the bridge. Participants kept warm in the cold with hot cider. The event concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

"This gives us a chance to move heavy equipment as well as other traffic all around the campus now and keep off of University Avenue. This is a good day for us. It's been a long time coming," said UND President Robert Kelley.

The bridge cost 1.7 million dollars, with 80 percent of the funding coming from the federal highway administration.
