You could definitely hear the holiday spirit throughout the University of North Dakota campus Monday morning. That is if you were up bright and early.

UND Army ROTC marched to President Kelly's house thing morning. The cadets took a break from their normal physical training and surprised the president and his wife with a very loud and cheerful rendition of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." The pre-dawn festivities are part of a long military tradition of honoring those who serve.

"It's just one of those things to pay respect to President Kelly and his wife. And although he's not our commanding officer he is the president of our university and all of our students wanted to show him some respect this morning," said Military Science Professor Clarence Carroll.

The students also presented the Kellys with a holiday basket.
