Preparing meals and thinking about what should be on the menu for the week is common occurrence in many households.

But for those who are shut-in it is a little more difficult.

That's where the Meals on Wheels program comes in.

And joining the efforts today was Grand Forks Mayor Mike Brown along with several City Council members.

The Mayors for Meals Program is a national event to bring attention to a larger problem awareness of Senior Hunger.

The group delivered roughly 40 meals today.

"Sometimes that is about the only contact with other people and we stop in, try to chat with them a little bit and make sure that everything is good," Ray Siver, Meals on Wheels Board VP.

"It is kind of nice to see someone different," said Rosalie Lindstrom, Meals on Wheels recipient.

Locally Meals on Wheels serves almost 500 meals throughout Nelson, Walsh and Pembina Counties.

Last year over 1,500 mayors across the US and Canada took part in the event.
