Hundreds of children in Grand Forks will receive gifts this holiday season thanks to one of Grand Forks' oldest charities, run completely by volunteers.

The group's goal this year is to shatter their own records and raise $18,000. With 16 days until Christmas, they're already at about $12,000. Volunteers have been working hard, collecting and packing gifts for more than 700 children. The idea of caring for others has driven the group for the past 97 years.

Santa Claus Girls President, Anita Geffre said, "A mother who doesn't have something to give a child, she's sad. You give her something and she's not anymore."
