A bizarre criminal case, got even more bizarre Tuesday.John Bridges, asked a judge to sentence him to the max. He had pleaded guilty to attempted murder and possession of contraband by an inmate.

In August, Bridges stabbed an officer at the State Prison. Bridges is already serving a life sentence for a 2012 murder in Burleigh County. Bridges was sentenced to life plus 20 years, for that crime. So with Tuesday's sentence, Bridges will be at the pen serving life plus 60 years.

Defense Attorney Kelsey Genzkow said, "I'm in a very difficult situation. I don't normally have to ask the court for a maximum sentence. But it is Mr. Bridges wish and he is very adamant about his wishes that he be sentenced to the maximum penalty and that the sentences run consecutively,"

For security reasons, the court system used ITV for Bridges hearing so he could stay at the Prison and avoid being transported.
