The Alerus Center in Grand Forks is still negotiating a possible purchase of land south of the city-owned event center.
The Grand Forks Events Center Commission’s Finance/Renovation Committee met Wednesday and discussed the continuing negotiations in executive session. They took no action regarding the purchase.
Minutes from the committee’s Nov. 20 meeting state that Grand Forks City Attorney Howard Swanson made an offer, pending Events Center Commission and City Council approval, on three lots of land owned by a group of several people. The offer was rejected, according to the minutes.
The other lot still being considered for purchase is owned by Danks 42nd St LLP.
Commissioners have told the Herald the possible land purchase isn’t for a specific use yet, but in the interest of future growth for the Alerus Center.
