UND receives research funding from Swedish institute

A renowned Swedish health institute is giving the University of North Dakota medical school 1.9 million for a research project.

A renowned Swedish health institute is giving the University of North Dakota medical school 1.9 million for a research project.

The Karolinska Institute in Stockholm is investigating severe deep-tissue infections including those that caused a global pandemic in the 1990s that killed thousands of people.

UND's research will be led by Malak Kotb, an infectious disease and bio-defense expert who was named founding chair of the school's department of basic sciences last spring.
