ND edible bean crop takes hit

The crop is estimated at 7.1 million hundred-weight, down more than a third from last year. The agriculture department says the drop was due to a 37 percent decline in planted and harvested acres from 2012.

North Dakota's dry edible bean production plummeted this year.

The crop is estimated at 7.1 million hundred-weight, down more than a third from last year. The agriculture department says the drop was due to a 37 percent decline in planted and harvested acres from 2012. Production nationally was down 25 percent over the year, however North Dakota leads the nation in production of dry edible beans.
