The Industrial Commission considers recognizing 18 areas in North Dakota as extraordinary places. It was a full house at Thursday morning's Industrial Commission meeting.

As the Attorney General, Governor and Ag Commissioner considered making areas such as the Little Missouri River and Theodore Roosevelt National Park as special places with cultural and historical significance. While the Attorney General's proposal would protect these sights, drilling would not be prohibited.

ND Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said,"If a permit to drill supplied for, then the companies have submit an impact mitigation plan."

The Industrial Commission will meet again to vote on if these amendments to the North Dakota Administrative Code should be accepted. If passed the public will then be asked to provide input
