A bridal shop in downtown Grand Forks has closed as a women’s clothing shop prepares to move into its former space.
City officials agreed to lease part of the first floor of the Corporate Center’s north building to Trés Chic Bridal and Formal Styling in January 2012. Doug Norby, father-in-law of the shop’s owner Katie, confirmed Thursday that the store has closed. He declined to comment further.
Sadie’s Couture Floral and Event Styling, which also occupies the first floor of 402 DeMers Ave. and came as a package deal with Trés Chic, is not closing.
Kittson, a women’s clothing shop located just a block away from the Corporate Center buildings, will move retail operations into the former Trés Chic space. City council members agreed Monday to allow Kittson to take over the lease from Trés Chic at the end of the year.
Tessa Hiney, one of the co-owners of Kittson, said they are maintaining their current lease at 28 S. Third St., but declined to detail their plans for that location. She said Kittson will open at the 402 DeMers location in mid-January.
Hiney said the new location is about twice as large as the Third Street spot.
