Law Enforcement Officers Raise Money For The Special Olympics

Although you may be used to seeing them directing traffic or responding to emergency calls, you probably aren't used to seeing law enforcement officers serving drinks at a restaurant.

Although you may be used to seeing them directing traffic or responding to emergency calls, you probably aren't used to seeing law enforcement officers serving drinks at a restaurant. But that's just what they were doing at Red Lobster tonight. The officers volunteered their time tonight to serve the public in a new way - as the wait-staff. They brought people their sodas and salads, and donated their tips to the Special Olympics.

"It was to help get them involved, the athletes, and it is something that's so rewarding to them. It's just something that law enforcement has kind of taken as their own," said Jenny Lammers of the Grand Forks Police Department.

"Law and Lobsters Day" ran until 9 p.m. Officers were hoping to raise $1,000 for the Special Olympics.
