Crookston holds city-wide snowman building contest

Frosty the Snowman will have some friends to visit in Crookston this week after a city-wide snowman building contest.

Frosty the Snowman will have some friends to visit in Crookston this week after a city-wide snowman building contest.

The competition started on Christmas Eve and lasts through January 1st. Contestants are asked to build a snowman or snow sculpture in a highly visible public area and send pictures of their sculpture to Mayor Dave Genereux.

Entries will be judged on size, design, and creativity. Genereux hopes this will get groups and families outdoors during the Christmas break.

Dave Genereux, Crookston Mayor said, "We're looking to get some winter scenery around town and maybe around our parks of snow men, of snow sculptures, but really the whole thing is to get people outside. Enjoy the winter weather, have fun, and maybe get some exercise."

The winner will be announced on January 2nd and the grand prize is $200.
