Things are looking good for the city of Grand Forks as we head into the new year on an economic high. The city had an all time record sales tax collection of $20 million.

Kevin Dean, with the city of Grand Forks, says 2012 was a record year for sales tax in 2013 and we topped that by 1.3 percent.

Dean also says this wasn't just a result of shoppers flocking into the city, but more local companies being tied to the oil boom. City officials are planning to use the extra cash for the growth of Grand Forks.
