Northlands Rescue Mission opens waiting list

Temperature lows are breaking records all across the country and North Dakota is no stranger to bitter cold. But for those unable to escape the brutality of mother nature the Northlands Rescue Mission is here to help.

Temperature lows are breaking records all across the country and North Dakota is no stranger to bitter cold. But for those unable to escape the brutality of mother nature the Northlands Rescue Mission is here to help.

Last winter so many sought shelter at Northlands that they had to open a waiting list, the first time they had to do so in 70 years. This year, they've opened a waiting list again, and those looking for a place to escape the cold can find refuge at the mission.

While there aren't any rooms, people are provided mattresses and blankets to sleep in the lobby and three meals a day.

Robert Raymer, Northlands Rescue Mission resident said, "If somebody comes in, they got mats, they can throw down on the floor down here, so they ain't going to turn nobody away."

If you see someone sleeping outside, you can call the Northlands Rescue Mission.
