JAMESTOWN, N.D. – A 26-year-old woman faces criminal charges after allegedly having sex with a series of boys ages 14 to 17 she met by using a smartphone app.
Trisha Lynn Bliss of Jamestown pleaded not guilty in Stutsman County District Court on Thursday to two counts of gross sexual imposition, a Class AA felony. She also was charged Friday in Stutsman County with an additional charge of corruption of a minor, a Class C felony.
Court documents say Bliss is also accused of allowing a 19-year-old man to use her daughter’s bedroom to have sex with a 14-year-old girl.
According to court documents filed with the charges:
Jamestown police were investigating the allegations involving the 14-year-old girl and the 19-year-old man when the man told a detective he had met Bliss through phone messaging.
The man told Detective LeRoy Gross he and another man came to Bliss’s home, where the man had sex with Bliss, and his friend had sex with a minor. The underage girl claimed to be 18, the man said, and Bliss corroborated it.
In October, Gross interviewed Bliss, who told him she met the two men through Skout, a meet-up application for smartphones.
Bliss told the detective she allowed one of the men to stay in her daughter’s bedroom with the girl, but they told her they were only going to cuddle. Police said Bliss told the detective she knew it was wrong to let the pair be alone.
When the detective met with the juvenile girl, she denied having sex with the man and said Bliss had had sex with four boys under 18.
Bliss denied having sex with the boys, then admitted she had sex with one of them before learning he was 17, police said. She told Gross the two of them talked about marriage.
She also told Gross she had sex with another juvenile boy the month before. Police say she claimed the boy told her he was 18, but after sex he told her he was in middle school.
Bliss told the detective she was in special education beginning in seventh grade and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. But she also told police she isn’t stupid, knows it was wrong to have sex with minors and regrets it.
One of the boys, who is 17, told police he had sex with Bliss eight times. A 14-year-old boy told Gross he had sex with Bliss twice, the first time after drinking vodka with Bliss at her home after school. Both times, he allegedly told police, he didn’t want to but was pressured by Bliss.
Bliss, who was released from jail on her own recognizance, is set for her next court date on Jan. 15.
