It was a Silver Anniversary celebration at UND today, at the Children and Family Services Training Center. The center celebrated 25 years of service to the state. The center serves as a training branch for child welfare, training adoptive and foster parents as well as social workers. Every year about 1,000 people go through training, including new social workers. The center's programming changes every year, depending on what the state needs and the federal government requires.
"It's really grown to the main training arm of the Children and Family Services Division in the state of North Dakota," said Director Peter Tunseth.
Tunseth says the manner of training has been changing because of technology, and it will continue to change in the next several years.
