A dry, warm spring is leading to a better-than-expected year for
flooding in Manitoba.
The Red River is expected to crest Thursday in Emerson where the
water is still well below the top of the town's dike.
The Red is almost free of ice, but a jam led to two flooded
garages in Petersfield, north of Winnipeg, yesterday.
The ice cleared by mid-afternoon and water levels quickly
started receding.
