Fire crews in Crookston battle a blaze at the Irishman's Shanty Monday afternoon. Fire fighters responded to a suspected fire in the attic around 10:40 Monday morning. When they arrived smoke was coming out of the attic and flames followed.

Fire fighters put out the flames and cut a hole in the building's roof to search for hotspots. The fire was believed to have started in the kitchen, though a cause is not known. The fire department doesn't know the cost of the damage, the investigation is ongoing.

Capt. Bob Magsam of the Crookston Fire Department said, "We discovered that the fire had spread throughout the attic space to various different parts of the building."

Captain Magsam says around 10 percent of the building was damaged and owners plan to start working on repairs
