Henry Tweten chosen to receive the Henry Havig award

The 38th recipient of the Henry Havig award has been chosen and its Henry Tweten. Henry Tweten served his country in World War II and received numerous awards including the silver star medal of gallantry.

The 38th recipient of the Henry Havig award has been chosen and its Henry Tweten. Henry Tweten served his country in World War II and received numerous awards including the silver star medal of gallantry.

In his career he became involved in politics serving as chairman for the DFL party in the 28-country Seventh Congressional District. He also served on the East Grand Forks City council for 18 years and was the president of the Minnesota State board of Education.

Award recipient, Henry Tweten said, "I'm going to keep working for the benefit of the people of these two communities and our two states."

The Henry Havig Award has been handed out every year since 1977 to those who have a long history of serving the community.
