A government study shows income levels grew by ten-point-five percent in the Grand Forks Metropolitan Statistical Area from 2011 to 2012. That's the third highest jump in the country during that time.
Nationally, incomes only grew by an average of four-point-two percent. 2012 marked the first year the average income in Grand Forks exceeded the national average. Other cities in the state also saw increases, Bismarck jumped just over 10 percent while Fargo went up eight-point-three percent and rural incomes in the state jumped a whopping 26-point-three percent in 2012.
