Good times in agriculture makes feeding cattle popular throughout North Dakota.
Scott Ressler with the North Dakota Stockmen's Association says in 2013 the organization helped develop 1 feedlot. He says in 2014 they are working on developing 7-8 new feedlots. He says North Dakota is a great place for feeding cattle because we have the livestock, genetics, feed and open space.
Scott Ressler, ND Stockmen's Association said, "The grain prices have come down. Now there is an opportunity with livestock prices as good as they are, there are some farmer feeders who can take some of the grain that they have been raising, run it through livestock and actually do better through the grain prices. And through the livestock."
Ressler says it's mostly young producers who are interested in building.
