A Devils Lake woman is accused of embezzling more than a quarter million dollars from her employer.
65-year old Sonya Dahlen is charged with Theft of Property, a Class A felony. Devils Lake police say Dahlen allegedly stole money from her employer, who owns hotels in North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. The Ramsey County States Attorney's office says Dahlen transferred more than 260,000 dollars from various business accounts associated with those hotels into a personal bank account. Police detective Sue Schwab says it's uncommon to see this much money taken in an embezzlement case.
Dahlen could face 20 years in prison if she's found guilty.
