Altru reported 97 new cases of influenza last week and officials say those numbers may signal a seasonal peak, which is about a week earlier that in past years.

For those still concerned about coming down with the flu. There is still flu vaccines available at many places around town, including Altru, UND and the County Health Department.

Dr. Josh Deere, Altru Family Medicine said, "If you are infected with a influenza or an influenza type illness, it's important to be seen within 24 to 48 hours after the onset because that is when anti-viral medications are the most effective."

Altru Officials say they are staffed during the weekdays to be able to see those who are experiencing flu symptoms. This is a cheaper alternative than using the urgent care services.
